You may be a middle-school student making the transition to high school, or you may be a high-school student looking to make new friends. Sometimes, even if you have been in a church for awhile, it can be difficult to start participating in a church youth group. But you will find that it's a laid-back time to relax and get to know one another.
Participate in a church youth group by being yourself. Resist the urge to copy anyone else's personality. Relax and know that it is not wise to compare yourself with anyone else. Even the most popular and talented kids in the church youth group have their faults. Come, be yourself, and have fun in fellowship with God. Join our Oasis Facebook Group and learn more about us.

We are building on the idea that our faith journey changes and grows due to relationships
- our relationship with God and Jesus,
- our relationship with mentors, and
- our relationship with each other, in this case Sr. high to Jr. High and with their peers.

Youth Group Set Sails For a New Year |
|
|
|
Sunday, September 12th - 3:00 pm
On Sunday, September 12th, the Chardon United Methodist Church Youth Group will set their sails for a new year of learning, sharing, and spiritual formation. Capt. John Eltzroth and Leigh Garam (from Lake Metroparks) have arranged to hold the event at Fairport Harbor Lakefront Park Beach. John, Leigh and other sailing instructors will teach our youth the basics of sailing. The youth may use kayaks while they wait to sail. Sailing will be followed by a cookout, beach volleyball, and a life lesson presented around a campfire by John Eltzroth.
We've now had two years of perfect weather for this event! Pray for another year of good weather. Plan to wear a swimsuit or shorts and top that may get wet. Bring a towel and change of clothes. You may get cold after getting wet on the boat. The annual Perch Fest will be in action, so you should enter the beach from the back. Follow these directions. Map to Fairport Beach.
Our 1st year's video will attest to the great time the youth of the church had!!!
We want to thank Lake Metroparks for offering their fantastic boating location and equipment. To learn more about Lake Metroparks, please visit www.lakemetroparks.com.

Become an online Hunger Walker or Donor at www.cropwalkonline.org. Or you may register at Burton Fairgrounds after 1:00 pm. The walk begins at 2:00 pm. You may Walk, jog, run ... however you choose. Just come and make a difference.

Project Hope Meal Preparation |
|
|
|
October 3rd, 3:00 pm
Oasis (the youth group) will fix a meal for Project Hope. This is a mission project that the youth have chosen to support this fall. We will prepare the meal in the main church kitchen. We will create a nutritional meal for 40 people and deliver it to the homeless shelter in Lake County. Our meeting later in the evening will center around the needs of the homeless.
Homelessness has long been a problem in Lake County. In 1992, a task force initiated by the Catholic Commission of Lake and Geauga invited all Lake County churches to discuss the need for a homeless shelter in Lake County. Under the direction of the Ecumenical Shelter Network of Lake County, Inc., Project Hope for the Homeless has since been providing the county's homeless men, women and children, shelter, meals and support. For more information, visit Project Hope - Lake County. |
