Chardon United Methodist Church

Geauga Hunger Task Force

The Geauga Hunger Task Force was established in 1977 to serve the emergency food needs of our county. This organization is a coalition of churches and social service agencies. It is completely dependent on the generosity of civic-minded individuals, agencies, and area businesses. The Chardon United Methodist Church has supported this mission for many years, through the food pantry at Pilgrim Christian Church.  There are seven neighborhood-based food pantries that distribute food throughout the county.

  • Burton Congregational Church
  • Chagrin Falls Park Community Center
  • Christ Presbyterian Church (Chesterland)
  • First United Methodist Church (Middlefield)
  • Grace Lutheran Church (Thompson)
  • Pilgrim Christian Church (Chardon)
  • Newbury United Community Church

The Geauga County Department of Human Services provides an after-hours pantry. Volunteers from this pantry along with community leaders form the GHTF Executive Committee who defines the mission and policies. Residents in need of food use the Infoline Volunteer Center at 211 or 285-3194 and Copeline at 285-5665 to request assistance.  The Geauga Hunger Task Force and this community thank you for your continued support.

The Hunger Task Force which has long been supported by Chardon UMC has 9 food pantries around the county.  Pilgrim Christian Church is the closest pantry to us.  We collect food staples and paper products in the baskets that are placed at the doors of our church and in the Promiseland corridor.  When you are shopping and there is a great sale on but you can’t use 10 of something please think about buying 10 anyway and drop the extra items into our collection baskets.  If you have a large amount of items you can take them directly to Pilgrim Christian or here.  Thank you for your help.
