Our Purpose

Christian Education at Chardon United Methodist Church is simply communicating God's truth, by providing scriptural training and opportunities for spiritual growth
  1. to lead people to a personal relationship with Christ,
  2. to transform hearts and lives,
  3. to encourage the use of God-given gifts, skills and talents, and
  4. to equip and make disciples of all ages.

About our Child Protection Policy

The purpose of the Protection Policy is to provide procedure specifically designed to protect children, youth, adults, church staff and volunteers associated with the ministries of the church.  Every volunteer working with children and youth on a regular basis attends a Child Protection Policy training session.

We invite all friends and visitors to come for fellowship and study to any of the various classes we offer at Chardon United Methodist Church.  Questions about any of our studies can be directed to Beth Lockitski, our Director of Education.

  • Adult Education   ( 22 Articles )
Ongoing Bible studies and lectionary discussions help us remain “passionately engaged in our spiritual growth,” and contributes to personal transformation.  Adult Christian Education classes are scheduled throughout the week, most of the year.  We offer a variety of subjects, taught by our pastor or other teachers.  Some classes will require education materials to be purchased and may require registration in advance.
  • Promiseland   ( 4 Articles )
Promiseland is Sunday School for children, preschool through grade 5.  It is a place where creative Bible teaching engages children through the use of the arts.  Contemporary music helps them remember biblical truths.  Adults are intentional about building strong relationships with children.  And, children cross the line of faith and establish a lifelong relationship with Christ.

It is a place where children:
    • feel welcomed, valued, and cared for while they learn who Jesus is,
    • learn  how to follow Him, and
    • learn how basic bible truths can help them make the right choices now and throughout their lives.
Promiseland is held at 9:30 am, in the lower level Education Wing of the church, from fall through spring.
  • Youth   ( 5 Articles )
Youth classes for grades 6 through 12 discover Bible truths and the relevant application to their lives.

Classes are held at 9:30 am, in the upper level of the Education Wing of the church, from fall through spring.

  • LOGOS   ( 6 Articles )

    The Word for Kids

Kindergarten through 5th Grade that celebrates:
    Bible Time

    • We nurture biblically informed discipleship
    • We nurture a love for the Scriptures.
    • We nurture a desire to become Fully Devoted Followers of Christ.
    • We memorize Books of the Bible and Scripture.
    • We practice locating Scripture in the Bible.

    Music Time

    • The Ministry of Music becomes a way of expressing Praise, Thanksgiving and Adoration of God.

    Family Time

    • The Goal of Family Time is to provide a joyous, intergenerational celebration of personhood over a shared meal as we experience being the family of God.
    • Children are assigned to tables along with one or two adults who act as ‘table parents.’  The group around the table becomes a family as they share meals together.  Food is served family style.  Conversation is purposeful.

    The #1 Rule of Logos:

Everyone is to treat everyone else as a child of God.  No one has the right to treat anyone else as if they do not matter.
